Create a poll in Dashboard → Polls or with /poll create. Choose a question, 2–10 options, single or multiple choice, and a duration. Multiple-choice polls can limit selections; an optional role limits eligibility. Members vote in Discord with /poll vote, using comma-separated option numbers.

Creation policy

Server administrators configure Polls → Poll policy. Choose creator roles, allowed channels, default and maximum duration, and the simultaneous open-poll limit. The policy also controls vote changes, eligibility roles, author attribution, result audiences, and result timing. These creation restrictions apply to ordinary creators. The verified server owner can create polls without a configured creator role or allowed channel and is exempt from the server’s duration, open-poll and available-choice restrictions. Poll content must still be valid, and Discord permissions still apply. Leaving creator roles or allowed channels empty stops other members from creating polls; it does not disable creation for the owner or delete existing polls.

Privacy

Choose author attribution (Named or Anonymous), result audience (Public or Authorized poll staff), and result timing (Live or After close) independently. These choices apply to displayed results and exports, including managers. Anonymous polls do not disclose the author in the published message, history, or exported metadata. Ballot identities never appear in results or exports. Pup retains the member identifier to prevent duplicate ballots and to allow permitted vote changes. Published questions, options, and privacy cannot be edited. Rerun creates a fresh poll with the displayed content and privacy, without copying votes.

Managing polls

Creators manage their own polls. Staff with Manage polls can manage other polls; server configuration alone does not grant that task. Close ends voting, cancel stops a poll, and extend adds time within the server’s maximum duration. Results and full JSON exports remain subject to the poll’s audience and timing. Pup queues Discord publication and updates after votes, manual actions, and scheduled closure. The dashboard distinguishes queued, published, failed, and unknown delivery. Failed sends can be retried. If a first publication has an unknown outcome, check Discord before creating another poll; Pup does not blindly send a duplicate. Historical polls without tracked Discord messages are not automatically published.
