A persistent communication restriction is indefinite. /hardmute records and queues its mute-role assignment without an expiry; it remains active until an authorized explicit reversal.
Its revisioned policy names the mute role and approved channel scope. Reconciliation writes only Pup-owned role overwrites for those channels; it never claims a manual overwrite. Before a write it records conflicts for an active native timeout, role availability/hierarchy, quarantine, protected-subject policy, and foreign-overwrite overlap. A conflict blocks enforcement. Reversal removes only assignments the restriction recorded as managed while retaining its case, policy revision, and outcomes.
/unrestrict uses the role recorded on the original restriction, rather than the currently configured mute role. It refuses a no-op or ambiguous overlap, then queues deletion only for Pup-owned channel overwrites and treats a resource Discord has already removed as the desired state. Other restriction families, including quarantine and temporary role restrictions, are never adopted or widened by this reversal and remain visible for staff review.
