# Moderation notifications

> Choose who receives each case outcome without exposing private reasons.

Choose a **Moderation log channel** in [Logs](https://docs.pup.run/logs.md) for the default staff log. Configure additional notices and custom templates from **Logs → Moderation notifications**. Each route selects an action, outcome and audience. A matching staff route to the moderation log channel supplies that case log.
The case keeps the rule chosen when it was recorded. Public, staff, member DM, appeal-information and fallback notices deliver independently. A failed notice or retry does not repeat a notice that already arrived.

Public notices omit private reasons and member mentions. Member and appeal routes are private
DMs. Only staff routes can opt in to an explicit target mention. Templates may
use the listed case fields and cannot fetch additional member or case data.

Administrators can save a list of members that have opted out of
moderation DMs. Those member and appeal notices show **Suppressed**. Staff, public and fallback notices still follow their configured routes.

## Check a failed notice

Open the [case](https://docs.pup.run/cases.md), inspect that notification's result and correct its destination or access before using **Retry**. A failed member DM does not mean the moderation action failed. Do not repeat a warning to resend its DM.
