# Find a member

> Search member profiles and open the records your access permits.

**Members** lists visible server members and loads more as needed. Search by display
name or username, or paste a Discord member mention or exact ID. Open a member to
review their profile, visible pup activity, roles and authorized case/history links.
Across the dashboard, named member mentions offer a profile preview and a menu to
copy the member ID, username or display name.
The profile shows when account and membership details were checked. Online presence is unavailable. The moderation summary excludes restricted reasons and hidden history. Protected members and roles cannot be inspected here.

## Look up information in Discord

```text wrap theme={null}
/userinfo
/userinfo member:@Alex
/serverinfo
/roleinfo role:@Trip hosts
```

`/userinfo` shows your own profile when no member is selected. These commands need **Use member information and reminders** in Staff access, with the moderation module and the command enabled. Slash replies are private; prefix replies appear in the channel. See [Command reference](https://docs.pup.run/commands.md) for the full inputs.

## Change roles

Use [Roles](https://docs.pup.run/roles.md) to load a member's current roles before changing them. A profile or name match does not grant moderation access; pup checks the current member and your permissions when you act.

## Read moderation history

Use the profile's authorized history links, or `/history user:@Alex` in Discord. Slash results are private. Prefix history replies appear in the channel, so choose slash commands when the records should stay private.
