# Media-only channels

Each server can set a separate media rule for each channel. A rule can require
approved attachments, embeds, links, stickers, or any mix of those, and can
prohibit any of them. It also explicitly decides how captions, replies, staff,
bots, threads, unavailable previews, and mixed media/text are treated.

Before removal, Pup can show the matched rule and a privacy-safe reason. An
unavailable provider preview is reviewable rather than silently treated as a
bad file when that is the server policy. Recovery records identify the rule and
outcome, not a copied message body, attachment URL, or preview bytes.
